What We Believe
- All the ultimate answers and hope for life
comes from God!
- There is one God, who is
three persons in one: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He made all things.
- God loves us so much
that He became human, the person of Jesus. He taught us about God, lived a perfect life,
suffered the punishment of our sin by dying on the cross for us and was physically raised
back to life. He ascended into heaven and is glorified as God.
- By faith in Jesus, God gives the gift of forgiveness
and removes all that separates us from a relationship with Him. This saving faith is
created by God as He works through baptism and as we hear His messages of Jesus.
- A true spiritual relationship with God is a growing
process through our lives. So, believers need to encourage each other, meet together
regularly for worship, study, prayer, to celebrate the Lord's Supper, and to love and care
for each other.
Who are Christians?
Christians are ordinary people who have
come to accept Jesus as their Savior. Christians are not perfect––we live by grace in the
knowledge of God's forgiveness and love.
As described in John 15:16, 1 Peter 2:9,
Matthew 5:14-16.
What is Worship?
Worship is praising God, praying for each
other, and giving thanks to God. We recognize that we worship an awesome and holy God!
Our worship services are centered on Him. As such, they are planned to glorify and please
God!
Our sermons are based on the Bible and are intended to edify, comfort, and
encourage us to lead lives that are pleasing to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as we
follow Him in obedience.
Music is an essential part of our services as we sing hymns of praise and thanks to
our Savior. the music comes from a variety of traditional sources and cultures. The lyrics
are centered on God!
What is Fellowship?
Fellowship is getting to know each other,
caring for each other, and encouraging each other in daily challenges and triumphs. We
gather together to strengthen each other, show love for each other, and to have fun
together.
The Lord's Supper
In accordance with God's Word, Lutherans
believe that in, with and under, the bread and wine of Holy Communion, Jesus Christ gives
us His very body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our
faith. In the Lord's Supper, we receive bread and wine and the true body and blood of our
Savior.
St. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11 regarding Holy Communion: "Therefore,
whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup in an unworthy manner will be guilty of
profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself and so eat of the
bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body
eats and drinks judgments upon himself."
If you are a baptized Christian, trust in Jesus alone as your Savior, believing that He
forgives your sins by grace through faith in Him, and you believe and accept the above
Scriptural teaching on the Lord's Supper, trusting in these words, "Given and shed
for you for the remission of sins," we invite you to join us at the Lord's Table.
Please contact us by email, phone or in person at Holy Cross, to discuss any
questions you have about our beliefs, worship, fellowship or other matters. Our pastor is
available to speak with you.
